KARACHI: The Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SMAP) has selected Ismail Suttar as its new Chairman for the 2026-28 term, alongside Qasim Yaqoob Paracha as Senior Vice Chairman and Shah Shamas-ul-Arifeen as Vice Chairman, with the elections concluding unopposed. The association's new leadership has committed to strengthening the country's salt export sector.

According to Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan, the election results saw all office-bearers declared elected unopposed due to a matching number of valid nominations and available seats, thereby eliminating the need for polling. The association has also released the full list of its 20-member Executive Committee for the upcoming term.

The committee includes Ismail Suttar, Qasim Yaqoob Paracha, Shah Shamas-ul-Arifeen, Muhammad Ali Shahid, Zeeshan Abdul Aziz, Khalid Mahmood Paracha, Muhammad Aslam, Tariq Mahmood, Talha Hussain Khan, and Shakeel Ahmed Samoo. Other members are Naeem Iqbal, Jawad Anwar Khan Sherwani, Muhammad Sohail, Faizan Abdul Razzak, Zohaib Jawed Akhtar, Sheikh Emad Magoon, Shan Muhammad, Bushra Suleman, Tariq Mehmood Akhtar, and Saad Imran.

Ismail Suttar, upon his election, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him by the association's members. He emphasized that the new leadership would focus on addressing challenges faced by salt exporters and work towards presenting a robust representation to the government. Suttar highlighted the importance of value addition to Pakistani salt products as a means of accessing new international markets, aiming to bolster Pakistan's position in the global salt industry.
