K-Electric and Karachi’s Garden Community Celebrate Loadshedding Exemption for Fawara Chowk

Karachi: K-Electric (KE) and the Garden community of Karachi have jointly celebrated the Fawara Chowk area's new status as loadshedding exempt, marking a significant milestone for residents who can now enjoy uninterrupted power supply. The achievement was commemorated with a ceremony attended by residents and stakeholders.

The milestone was reached after KE successfully upgraded the area's Al Mannan Feeder, transforming it from a high-loss to a low-loss region. This improvement was made possible through a collaborative three-fold strategy that involved engaging with stakeholders, reducing electricity theft, and ensuring timely bill payments.

Sadia Dada, KE's Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer, emphasized the importance of community collaboration in achieving this goal. "The success of Fawara Chowk is proof that real change happens when communities and utilities work together," she stated. She credited local residents and ongoing technological advancements for turning challenges into opportunities.

KE's strategy of reducing electricity theft and ensuring timely bill payments has allowed multiple areas in Karachi to attain load-shed exemption. Currently, 70% of KE's feeder network benefits from uninterrupted power supply. The company conducts regular, data-driven reviews of its network to maintain transparency and accuracy.

KE has also pledged to support community representatives and elected officials who collaborate with the utility in addressing challenges related to reliable electricity supply. This initiative is part of KE's broader vision to make over 90% of Karachi loadshed-free by 2030.
