KARACHI: K-Electric has taken legal measures following an attack on its staff and property at the DFS complex and Haroonabad grids, filing a first information report (FIR) against the individuals responsible. The incident included the looting of cash from employees, prompting a stern response from the company.
Imran Rana, a spokesperson for K-Electric, emphasized the company's commitment to pursuing legal action against those involved. "We will utilize the full provision of the law against these attackers," Rana stated. He also made clear that K-Electric would not tolerate any misconduct aimed at its employees or infrastructure.
The company reiterated its stance on the issue of electricity theft, which has been a significant challenge. K-Electric maintains that providing free electricity is not feasible in areas where theft is widespread and recovery rates are low.
According to K-Electric, nearly 70% of its feeders are exempt from load-shedding. However, feeders in areas with high levels of electricity theft and low recovery are subject to load-shedding as per the schedule available on the company's website.
