Karachi: K-Electric has announced a new layout for its electricity bills, aimed at providing customers with a clearer view of their consumption and payment history. The redesigned bills, which will be rolled out soon, are part of the company's initiative to improve communication and empower consumers with understandable information about their electricity usage and charges.
The new design does not alter customer-end tariffs or the slabs and categories that users fall into. These rates, notified by the Government of Pakistan in July, remain consistent across all distribution companies in the country.
Key features of the new bill layout include a snapshot of billing details, consolidated calculations, an upfront message box for notices, and a detailed breakdown of charges and taxes. Customer-specific information such as sanctioned load, security deposit, and account number are now grouped together.
An added message board will provide updates on tariffs and taxation, following government directives. The new layout also reduces paper usage by integrating supplementary information, previously delivered as separate flyers, into the main bill. This includes net metering details and smart meter updates, which are now available on the bill's back page.
This initiative follows KE's previous efforts to address climate change by reducing paper usage and increasing the adoption of e-bill services, which saw a 60% rise in subscriptions over the past year.
Noor Afshan, Senior Director and Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at KE, stated, "The new layout reflects our commitment to serving customers through a transparent process. We believe a well-informed customer is an empowered one, and meaningful improvements in the bill's layout will enhance service delivery and strengthen customer trust."
Customers are encouraged to visit KE's official website and digital platforms to explore and understand the new bill layout.
