KARACHI: The Businessmen Group (BMG) and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) are mourning the loss of AQ Khalil, a former President of KCCI and General Secretary of BMG. Khalil's passing has left a significant void in Karachi's business sector, where his dedication and leadership were well-recognized.
According to a statement by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalil's funeral took place at Alamgir Mosque on Thursday morning. The service was attended by BMG and KCCI leaders, former presidents, and many BMG members, family, and friends, who offered their condolences and shared in the grief.
In a joint statement, BMG Chairman Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairmen Anjum Nisar, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Mian Abrar, Senior Vice President Zia ul Arfeen, Vice President Faisal Khalil Ahmed, and KCCI's Managing Committee expressed their sorrow and respect for Khalil. They acknowledged his significant contributions to Karachi's business community and his role in enhancing the city's economic discussions.
Khalil, a legal expert, was noted for his guidance in legal proceedings and his influence on KCCI's publications, including the Economic Horizon Magazine. His dedication to improving the business environment in Karachi was highlighted by Motiwala, who praised Khalil's advocacy for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
