KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and Friends of Pakistan (FoP) USA/Pakistan Trade Advisory have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance trade, entrepreneurship, and economic collaboration between Pakistan and the United States. The agreement, executed at the KCCI premises, aims to create a framework to facilitate increased bilateral trade and investment.
According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the MoU was signed by KCCI President Muhammad Rehan Hanif and Friends of Pakistan USA President Jamal Khawaja, with witnesses present including Junaid Esmail Makda and Farrukh Sheikh. The three-year strategic framework seeks to connect Pakistani enterprises with U.S. markets, investors, and potential joint-venture partners. It will encourage greater business-to-business connectivity through trade delegations, business forums, exhibitions, and networking sessions.
Rehan Hanif noted that the focus will be on sectors such as Information Technology, Textiles, Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Startups, where stronger U.S. market engagement could lead to substantial export and investment opportunities. The partnership will also facilitate the exchange of market intelligence and compliance information, benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in understanding the U.S. market.
The MoU aims to provide a structured platform for moving beyond traditional business contacts towards meaningful trade and investment partnerships, enabling Pakistani businesses, particularly SMEs, to expand their international presence. KCCI expressed confidence that this collaboration will foster deeper commercial engagement and unlock new trade and investment avenues between the two countries.
