Karachi: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) recently hosted an orientation workshop focused on gender equality, social inclusion, women’s empowerment, and sustainable investment practices. The event, held in collaboration with the USAID Investment Promotion Activity, aimed to educate and empower local entrepreneurs, with a specific focus on integrating environmental, social, and governance frameworks into business operations.
According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the workshop featured presentations from several key figures, including KCCI President Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh and STTA Gender Expert Ms. Shahina Waheed. Senior Vice President of KCCI, Altaf A. Ghaffar, and Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Subcommittee, Durre Shahwar Nisar, were also prominent participants. The event highlighted the importance of gender lens investing (GLI) and the role of women in leading sustainable business practices within the community.
The collaboration with USAID’s Investment Promotion Activity underscores a significant commitment towards fostering an inclusive business environment that supports gender equality and women’s leadership roles in the commercial sector. The workshop is part of a broader initiative to enhance the business enabling environment in Pakistan, with a particular emphasis on empowering women entrepreneurs through educational and developmental programs.
