Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) are set to host an international conference on AgriTech titled “Feeding the Future” as part of the Best of Entrepreneurship Asia Series on August 28 at the Expo Center in Karachi. Mr. Jam Kamal, Federal Minister for Commerce, will serve as the chief guest.
According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the conference aims to advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional trade and investment within sustainable agriculture, tourism development, and the digital economy. Supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization through its Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain and facilitated by ITCN Asia, the event has garnered significant backing, including main sponsors like Al Baraka Bank and Unity Foods.
Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Acting President of FPCCI, expressed that the conference will initially focus on food security and the transformative potential of emerging technologies in agriculture. He noted that food security remains a critical issue for many developing and Islamic countries, exacerbated by income inequality, economic instability, climate change, conflicts, and unemployment. Mr. Magoon emphasized the need for improved supply chain management, post-harvest handling, storage, and logistics to address issues of food accessibility, affordability, and utilization.
The conference will gather national and international stakeholders, including diplomats, academics, prominent business personalities, agricultural financial institutions, and government bodies. High-profile delegations from the UAE, Thailand, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, and other countries are expected to attend. The event will also feature B2B matchmaking sessions, enabling private-sector participants from Pakistan to explore investment opportunities, trade facilitation, and joint ventures with attending countries. The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) will also participate in the conference.
