Karachi Industries Demand Government Relief Amid Rising Taxes and Costs

Karachi: The President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Johar Kandhari, has called for immediate government intervention to relieve industries burdened by what he describes as unnecessary taxes. As per Kandhari, these fiscal pressures, combined with escalating costs for utilities and production, are forcing many businesses in Karachi to shut down, potentially leading to widespread unemployment and social unrest.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Kandhari expressed concerns over the recent closures of numerous industries in Karachi, attributing these shutdowns to the high taxes imposed in the latest budget, along with the rising costs of electricity, gas, interest rates, and overall production expenses. He warned of a looming unemployment crisis and increasing public dissatisfaction due to these government policies. Kandhari urged the government, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, to heed public sentiment by scaling back on additional taxes and implementing austerity measures to reduce government spending, though he noted that no such announcements have been made yet.
