Karachi: In a significant development for Karachi’s infrastructure and environmental projects, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced the provincial government’s readiness to facilitate Chinese investments in transformative development projects. This initiative comes as part of a broader collaboration under the Belt and Road initiative.

According to Zameen.Com, more than twelve prominent Chinese firms have expressed their interest in a series of critical initiatives in Karachi. These projects include the development of waste-to-energy plants, wastewater treatment facilities, desalination plants, the manufacture of electric buses, and the conversion of petrol motorcycles to electric. Additionally, there is a strong interest in overhauling Karachi’s aging sewerage system.

During a meeting held on Tuesday, the Chief Minister extended an invitation to these firms to explore direct investment opportunities and partnerships through public-private models. He assured them of the Sindh government’s full support in providing all necessary facilities to bring these projects to fruition.

Further discussions are scheduled with the Sindh Planning and Development Department and the Board of Investment to finalize the project details and commence the selection process for immediate implementation.
