KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange witnessed a dip in its key indices on October 9, 2026, as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices recorded declines. The KSE30 index fell by 142.15 points to close at 49,841.71, while the KSE100 index decreased by 352.63 points, finishing the session at 167,089.28. This drop represents a percentage decrease of 0.28% and 0.21% for the KSE30 and KSE100 indices, respectively.
According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market experienced a notable reduction in trading activity. The turnover for regular market transactions was recorded at 309,412,240, down from the previous 365,869,618. The traded value also saw a decline, falling to 15,437,738,469 from 17,722,106,337. Moreover, the market capitalization decreased slightly to 18,569,134,923,378 from 18,597,600,648,466.
The data further revealed that derivative and off-market dealings also reflected a slowdown. The derivative futures contracts (DFC) recorded a turnover of 78,244,000, a significant drop from the previous 97,929,500, with the traded value decreasing to 5,276,689,385 from 6,479,586,805. The off-debt market (ODL) also saw minimal activity with only 1,968 transactions, compared to the previous 1,063, with a traded value of 40,324, up from 27,137.
Overall, the day's trading session on the Karachi Stock Exchange was marked by reduced activity and a decrease in the major indices, reflecting a cautious sentiment among investors.
