Karachi Stock Market Sees Significant Gains as Indices Surge

KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange witnessed a significant surge on May 6, 2026, as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices climbed substantially. The indices closed at 51,734.35 and 171,704.76, respectively, marking notable increases from their previous positions. The KSE30 rose by 2,242.85 points, a 4.53 percent increase, while the KSE100 gained 6,962.29 points, reflecting a 4.23 percent rise.

According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market experienced a substantial increase in turnover and traded value. The current turnover reached 1,202,167,555, a significant jump from the previous 453,219,997. The traded value also saw a substantial rise, recording 63,003,024,371 compared to the prior 22,785,381,236. Market capitalization increased from 18,173,711,874,546 to 18,889,678,363,297.

Additionally, sector-specific data from the report indicates significant activity in the DFC and CSF sectors. The DFC sector reported a turnover of 249,903,000, up from 118,098,000, with a traded value increase to 18,325,898,530 from 7,331,930,085. The CSF sector recorded a turnover of 500, with a traded value of 69,000, indicating new activity.
