Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced plans to construct 30 new parks across the city’s various districts, as part of an extensive effort to enrich urban life and promote environmental sustainability. This initiative, spearheaded by the KMC’s Department of Parks and Horticulture, aims to provide residents with enhanced access to green spaces and recreational areas.

According to Zameen.Com, the project includes not only the development of new parks but also the upgrading of green belts around three major urban locations and key thoroughfares such as Sharea Faisal and Shahrah-e-Pakistan. These areas will see significant landscaping improvements and the installation of high-mass lighting to improve visibility and safety, thereby making these spaces more welcoming for public use.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab has voiced a strong commitment to transforming Karachi into a greener and more aesthetically pleasing metropolis. He has directed the parks department to accelerate the park construction and renovation processes across all districts, highlighting the importance of making these recreational spaces accessible to every resident. “The parks are a public trust, belonging to the citizens of Karachi,” Mayor Wahab stated, emphasizing the need to protect and preserve these green spaces for future generations.
