Karachi’s Jinnah Town Chairman Takes Action Against PTCL for Unauthorized Utility Pole Expansion

Karachi, In a recent crackdown on unauthorized infrastructure expansion, Jinnah Town's Chairman, Rizwan Abdul Sami, has initiated strict measures against Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) for the excessive installation of utility poles, exceeding the permitted number. The town's anti-encroachment department has commenced the removal of these extra poles and will continue this operation until all illegal installations are cleared.

According to Fly Jinnah, Chairman Sami highlighted that PTCL was granted approval to install only 30 poles within the jurisdiction of Jinnah Town. However, the company has gone beyond this limit by installing hundreds of poles. This move by PTCL has triggered a strong response from the town's administration. The chairman emphasized that all actions taken are within the legal framework of Jinnah Town and are focused on maintaining order and legality in the town's development activities.

Chairman Sami also addressed allegations of false news being spread about him in the media, clarifying that he has been dutifully performing his responsibilities without engaging in any activity that could tarnish his reputation or that of his political party. The ongoing conflict between the town's administration and PTCL raises questions about the regulation of urban infrastructure and the enforcement of legal limits on utility installations.

This incident in Karachi underscores the challenges faced by local governments in managing urban expansion, particularly regarding utility providers and their adherence to legal frameworks. It also highlights the importance of transparent communication and adherence to approved plans in urban development. The situation in Jinnah Town serves as a reminder of the delicate balance required between development and regulation in growing urban areas.
