Karachi: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) President Johar Kandahari has congratulated the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for securing the chairmanship of four crucial standing committees in the National Assembly. These committees play a significant role in shaping economic policy and addressing the challenges faced by Pakistan’s business and industrial sectors.
According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Kandahari specifically praised the newly elected Chairmen of the Standing Committees for Trade and Industrial Production, Javed Hanif and Hafeezuddin Advocate, respectively. He expressed optimism that their leadership would bring much-needed economic stability and help alleviate the challenges facing exporters and industrialists, exacerbated by recent tax increases and changes to the tax regime introduced in the budget. Kandahari emphasized the need for these chairmen to develop and strictly enforce a long-term economic policy that would foster investment, industrialization, and job creation over the next five years.
Kandahari also highlighted the broader role of MQM in the National Assembly, particularly in committees crucial to economic development such as Privatization and IT. He called on MQM leadership to advocate for the business community's interests vigorously, pushing for policies that would privatize loss-making institutions and boost IT exports. With the economy in a state of crisis, he stressed the importance of unity and proactive measures from all political parties to steer the country towards recovery.
