KATI President Highlights Opportunities in Iranian President’s Visit to Boost Pakistan-Iran Trade

Karachi, During the recent visit of the Iranian President to Pakistan, President Johar Qandhari of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) expressed optimism about enhancing bilateral relations and expanding trade ties between the two countries.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, President Qandhari emphasized the visit's potential to not only reconcile past tensions but also to significantly bolster economic and trade relations. He highlighted the critical areas of cooperation in the energy sector, notably gas and petroleum products, and underscored the strategic importance of the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project. Qandhari advocated for competitive pricing on Iranian gas imports to help mitigate industrial energy challenges in Pakistan.

Furthermore, Qandhari suggested innovative trade methods such as transactions in local currencies or barter systems to ease the pressure on Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and export bill. He reaffirmed KATI’s commitment to facilitating fruitful business interactions between the two nations, aiming to leverage mutual strengths for economic prosperity and development in areas like trade and infrastructure.
