KE Network Maintains 71% Loadshed-Free Supply, Enhances Vigilance Against Electricity Theft

Karachi, In a routine review of its service network, K-Electric (KE) announced that 71% of its network will continue to receive uninterrupted power supply. The latest loadshed schedule, effective January 1, 2024, affects the remaining 29% of the network, correlating with each area's loss profile and electricity theft rates. The updated schedule is available on KE's website, with additional updates accessible through the KE Live App and KE WhatsApp service.

According to K-Electric, the company's spokesperson highlighted the ongoing efforts to monitor regular bill payment and combat electricity theft. These efforts have maintained consistent power supply in areas like Gulistan-e-Johar and Korangi, where loss reduction has led to decreased loadshed durations. Conversely, areas with deteriorating loss profiles, such as Landhi and North Karachi, will experience increased loadshed times.

The spokesperson emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing electricity supply through community engagement and stricter governance against theft. Notable progress includes significant reductions in loadshed durations in Surjani and improvements in high-loss areas. KE has also conducted over 24,000 anti-theft drives this year, removing over 230,000 kgs of illegal wires and collaborating with government and law enforcement in a national campaign against electricity theft.

K-Electric, established in 1913 and privatized in 2005, is Pakistan's only vertically integrated power utility, serving an area of 6,500 square kilometers in Karachi and surrounding regions. Its majority shares are held by a consortium of investors including Aljomaih Power Limited, National Industries Group, and the IGCF, with the Government of Pakistan also holding a minority stake.
