KIBOR Rates Remain Steady Amid Economic Uncertainty

Karachi: The latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan indicates that the Karachi Interbank Offered Rate (KIBOR) has shown minimal movement across various tenors, reflecting a steady trend in borrowing costs for financial institutions. The rates for the one-week tenor stand at 11.36% for bids and 11.86% for offers, while the one-month tenor is quoted at 11.37% for both bids and offers.

According to State Bank of Pakistan, the three-month and six-month tenors are both priced at 11.42% for bids, with offers slightly higher at 11.67%. The nine-month tenor shows a bid rate of 11.40% and an offer rate of 11.90%. Meanwhile, the one-year tenor is bid at 11.39% and offered at 11.89%. These rates suggest stability in the interbank market, despite ongoing economic challenges.

The persistence of these rates could indicate that financial institutions are maintaining a cautious outlook, as they navigate the current economic landscape. The KIBOR rates are a critical indicator for the banking sector, influencing lending and borrowing activities across the country.
