KIBOR Rates See Stability Across Tenors

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan has disclosed the latest Karachi Interbank Offered Rates (KIBOR), revealing a steady pattern across various tenors. The rates, which are critical benchmarks for lending between banks, showed minor fluctuations, suggesting a period of relative stability in the financial markets.

For the 1-week tenor, the bid rate was recorded at 10.86 percent, while the offer rate stood at 11.36 percent. This slight spread continues to reflect a cautious approach by financial institutions in short-term lending.

The 2-week tenor demonstrated similar characteristics, with the bid at 10.84 percent and the offer at 11.34 percent. This consistency indicates a stable short-term outlook among market participants.

In the longer tenors, the 1-month and 3-month rates showed identical bid rates of 10.82 percent, with offer rates at 11.32 percent and 11.07 percent respectively. Such stability in these tenors suggests confidence in the medium-term financial conditions.

The 6-month tenor showed a bid rate of 10.81 percent, marginally lower than the 1-month and 3-month rates, with an offer rate of 11.06 percent. This slight variation is typical as banks project their lending strategies further into the future.

For even longer commitments, the 9-month and 1-year tenors were observed with bid rates of 10.75 percent and 10.76 percent respectively, and offer rates of 11.25 percent and 11.26 percent. These figures reflect the market's assessment of economic conditions over an extended period.

The publication of these rates by the State Bank of Pakistan provides crucial information for financial institutions and businesses, enabling them to make informed decisions in the current economic climate.
