KSE-100 Closes Lower Amid Elevated Volatility and Declining Volumes

Karachi: The KSE-100 index experienced a volatile trading session, ultimately closing 555 points lower at 153,866, as it continues to trade below its 10-period moving average. Trading volumes fell by approximately 44% compared to the previous session, reflecting subdued market activity.

According to AKD Securities Limited, the index fluctuated significantly, hitting an intraday high of 581 points and a low of 1,641 points. The technical analysis indicates ongoing weakness, with elevated volatility compared to the average of the past 10 trading sessions. Volume indicators suggest a neutral trend, with a balanced flow of funds into and out of the index.

The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator remains below its signal line, maintaining a bearish bias that began 32 sessions ago. During this period, the index has declined by 18.24%, moving within a range of 189,521 on the upside and 144,119 on the downside.

Immediate support for the index is identified at 153,800, with further declines possible toward 152,500 and 151,500 if this level is breached. Resistance is expected at 155,000, followed by 156,400 and 158,000. Traders are advised to proceed with caution and employ stop-loss strategies in the current market environment.
