KSE 100 Dips Below 158,000 Amidst Declining Turnover

Islamabad: The KSE 100 index experienced a downturn, closing below the 158,000 mark amidst a significant drop in market activity. The index concluded the trading session at 157,554.66, reflecting a decrease of 482.71 points or 0.31%.

The benchmark KSE 30 index also witnessed a decline, settling at 48,034.04, marking a decrease of 217.32 points (0.45%). The day's trading range for the KSE 100 spanned from a high of 158,850.34 to a low of 157,245.73, while the KSE 30 fluctuated between 48,510.22 and 47,916.56.

Market participation weakened considerably, with the regular market turnover contracting to 1,665,972,171 shares compared to the prior day's 2,047,812,574 shares. This reduced trading activity translated into a lower traded monetary value of 60,902,648,676 rupees, down from 69,273,082,498 rupees. Market capitalization also witnessed a marginal decrease, standing at 18,562,266,088,076 rupees, down from 18,574,072,975,682 rupees. Futures trading exhibited increased volume, reaching 463,633,000 shares, up from 405,170,000.
