KSE-100 Index Declines Amid Active Trading in Investment and Refinery Sectors

Karachi: The KSE-100 Index experienced a decline of 48 points, closing at 177,323, as 612 million shares were traded in the market. The session saw AICL, KTML, and APL leading in performance based on price changes, while NBP, PSX, and PSO emerged as the top decliners. Investment companies, refineries, and power sectors witnessed concentrated trading activity.

According to Taurus Securities Limited, the market's performance reflects a diverse range of economic developments. Pakistan and Kuwait have signed a 'Protocol Agreement-2026', marking a new phase in bilateral cooperation. Meanwhile, Qatar's Prime Minister is engaging in mediation efforts in Tehran, amidst U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that the U.S. is not currently engaged in talks with Iran, as the economic conflict remains a focal point.

In other related developments, Pakistan is set to engage in fourth review talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) next month under a $7 billion Extended Fund Facility. The IMF has also expressed opposition to any reduction in gas prices. The State Bank of Pakistan's reserves have seen a slight increase, edging up by $17 million to $17.1 billion. Furthermore, the Asian Development Bank has approved a $400 million regional financing facility, signaling continued international financial engagement with Pakistan.
