Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) experienced a slight decline yesterday, with the KSE-100 Index dropping by 120 points to close at 181,310. A total of 910 million shares were traded during the session, reflecting active participation from investors across various sectors.
According to Taurus Securities Limited, the day's top performers in terms of price change were Cnergy, Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL), and Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited (PABC). In contrast, Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC), Adamjee Insurance Company Limited (AICL), and TRG Pakistan Limited were the top decliners. The trading activity was primarily concentrated in the Refinery, Technology, and Banking sectors, indicating a diverse range of interests among market participants.
The market's performance comes amid a backdrop of geopolitical and economic developments, including tensions between the United States and Iran, as well as domestic issues such as the deadlock over judicial appointments and the government's efforts to boost small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) financing. Despite these challenges, some sectors of the market showed resilience, with notable investments and policy approvals suggesting potential future growth.
