KSE-100 Index Experiences High Volatility Amid Trading Session

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange's KSE-100 Index experienced a tumultuous trading session, marked by significant volatility. The index initially opened on a positive note but faced sharp fluctuations throughout the session. It reached an intraday high of 1,933 points, later dropping to a low of 2,029 points, and ultimately closed 1,632 points down at 164,626.

According to AKD Securities Limited, there was a slight uptick in market participation, with trading volumes increasing by 2% compared to the previous session. Over the last ten trading days, the market has seen two positive closes against eight negative ones, resulting in a net of six negative sessions. This trend indicates ongoing selling pressure. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains bearish, as it has been trading below its signal line since crossing under it 20 sessions ago. Since that crossover, the index has declined by 12.53%, fluctuating between a high of 189,521 and a low of 163,908.
