Karachi: The KSE-100 Index witnessed a volatile trading session, opening positively and climbing to an intraday high of 1,054 points before closing 398 points higher at 180,502. The trading volumes saw a significant increase of approximately 31% compared to the previous session, marking a notable strengthening in market participation.
According to AKD Securities Limited, the index has seen a pattern of three bullish candles and seven bearish candles over the past 10 trading sessions, culminating in a net of four bearish candles. The session concluded with the formation of a bearish candle as the index closed below its opening level and marked a lower high. Despite this, the KSE-100 continues to consolidate above its key moving averages. However, short-term charts suggest a potential pullback toward the middle or lower portion of the current trading range, with the index closing 26.5% below the upper Bollinger Band and the Bollinger Bands themselves being 31.08% narrower than normal, indicating compressed volatility.
From a technical standpoint, immediate support for the index is identified at 179,800, with a breach below this level potentially extending the decline toward 179,200 and 177,800. On the upside, resistance is expected around 181,000, followed by 181,600 and 182,500. The recommendation is to accumulate positions while defining risk below the support zone.
