KSE-100 Index Sees 249-Point Gain as Trading Volume Hits 640 Million Shares

Karachi: The KSE-100 Index experienced a significant rise of 249 points, closing at 171,402 with a trading volume of 640 million shares. The day's activity was primarily concentrated in the technology, miscellaneous, and investment companies sectors, reflecting a diverse range of transactions that dominated the market.

According to Taurus Securities Limited, the top performers in terms of price change were AHCL, SEARL, and PAKT, while the stocks PGLC, YOUW, and IBFL emerged as the main decliners. This market movement comes amidst a backdrop of various economic and geopolitical developments, including discussions between the United States and Iran, and affirmations by Pakistan, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt regarding Riyadh's right to self-defense.

In related economic news, the government has announced a reduction in fuel prices, with a decrease of Rs3.12 per liter for diesel and Rs1.70 for petrol. Additionally, there has been a significant inflow of foreign assistance, totaling Rs703 billion in the first two months of the fiscal year 2027. The Finance Division has also publicly addressed reports concerning Pakistan's IMF program, labeling some of the reports as misleading.
