Karachi: The KSE-100 index experienced a positive trading session, climbing to an intraday high of 1,020 points before closing 153 points higher at 174,777. Despite the bullish momentum, market participation declined, with trading volumes dropping by approximately 27% compared to the previous session.
According to AKD Securities Limited, the KSE-100 index closed 9.5% above the lower Bollinger Band, with the bands remaining 51.63% narrower than usual. This suggests significantly compressed volatility, as the bands have been within this narrow range for eight consecutive periods. Such prolonged compression historically increases the probability of volatility expansion, potentially leading to a significant price movement.
Immediate support for the index is identified at 174,800, with a potential decline toward 174,100 and 173,500 if breached. Conversely, resistance levels are projected at 175,500, followed by 176,100 and 176,800. A cautious trading approach is recommended, with a strategy to accumulate positions on dips, defining risk below the support zone.
