KSE-100 Index Shows Volatility, Closes Above 50-Day SMA

Karachi: The KSE-100 index experienced a volatile trading session, eventually closing 125 points higher at 175,928. The session began on a weak note, with the index dropping to an intraday low of 2,166 points before recovering to an intraday high of 327 points. Trading volumes saw a significant increase, rising by approximately 29% from the previous session.

According to AKD Securities Limited, the KSE-100 managed to close above its 50-day Simple Moving Average (50-SMA) at 174,388, indicating that near-term support is still present. However, momentum indicators suggest a cautious outlook. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 46.39, below the neutral 50 level, and the daily Parabolic SAR remains above the current index level, indicating a short-term downward trend despite the recovery.

Technical analysis shows immediate support at 175,600, with a potential decline towards 174,800 and 173,900 if this level is breached. Resistance is anticipated at 177,700, followed by 179,600 and 180,700. Analysts recommend accumulating positions with risk management below the support zone.
