KSE-100 Index Shows Volatility with Upward Movement Amid Mixed Signals

Karachi: The KSE-100 index experienced a volatile trading session, closing at 175,329, which marks an increase of 399 points from the previous day. Trading volumes were significantly higher, with 874 million shares exchanged compared to 627 million shares in the prior session. The index is poised to target the 30-day moving average (DMA) at 177,444, with a potential further rise to 178,424, corresponding to the 50-DMA. Conversely, a decline could encounter support between 174,180 and 175,090 levels.

According to JS Global, momentum indicators present mixed signals, offering no definitive trading direction. Investors are advised to exercise caution at higher levels and consider buying during market dips. The current support and resistance levels for the index are noted at 174,757 and 175,660, respectively.

In sector-specific news, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is projected to have limited downside risk, with a recommended strategy of 'buy on dips', targeting Rs364.64 and Rs369.67, and a stop-loss set at Rs354.02. Similarly, Maple Leaf Cement Factory (MLCF) is expected to resume its uptrend, with 'buy on dips' advised, targeting Rs103.36 and Rs105.45, and a stop-loss at Rs98.47.
