KSE-100 Index Suffers Significant Loss Amid Volatility in Latest Trading Session

Islamabad: The KSE-100 index experienced significant volatility during its last trading session, concluding with a notable decline. The index opened positively but soon faced fluctuations, ultimately closing with a substantial loss.

According to AKD Securities Limited, the session began on an upbeat note, reaching a peak gain of 380 points before succumbing to volatility that saw it drop by as much as 1,066 points. The index eventually settled at 78,469 points, down 928 points from the opening. This marked a continuation of bearish trends, with trading volumes increasing compared to the previous session. Technical indicators suggest a cautious outlook: the index closed below the 30-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator remains in a bearish phase, having crossed below its signal line four sessions earlier.

The current technical setup indicates potential support around the 77,900 point level, with further downside risks if this threshold is breached, possibly leading to declines toward 77,600 and 77,100 points. On the upside, resistance is expected near 78,700 points, with subsequent barriers at 79,100 and 79,500 points. Traders are advised to maintain a cautious strategy and implement a stop-loss approach to manage risks effectively.
