KSE-100 Index Surpasses 100,000 Mark Amid Robust Growth

Karachi: In a landmark achievement for the Karachi Stock Exchange, the KSE-100 index has crossed the significant milestone of 100,000 points, reflecting a 185% increase over the past two years. The index reached a peak of 117,039 during 2024, closing the year at 115,127 points, marking an 84% year-on-year increase. This upward trend has been driven by a 76% rise in average market volumes, indicating strong investor confidence.

According to JS Global, the KSE-100 is expected to maintain its upward momentum into 2025, with projections suggesting the index could reach 160,050 points by year-end. This anticipated growth represents a 39% increase from its current level. Analysts forecast a potential short-term rally if the index breaks its all-time high of 117,039 points, with returns projected between 15-17% and a target range of 132,800 to 134,200 points. A minor resistance is anticipated between 126,000 and 128,500 points, and a stop-loss is advised below 105,600 points.

The outlook for the KSE-100 remains positive in the medium to long term, although minor corrections are possible due to the index being overbought on weekly and monthly timeframes. The threshold for bearish momentum is set below the 99,000 mark, with support levels at 101,300 and 100,700 points. Investors are advised to adopt a 'buy on dips' strategy, with sectors such as oil, cement, steel, technology, automotive, and pharmaceuticals expected to remain prominent.
