KSE Indexes Close Higher Amid Modest Gains

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) indexes saw a moderate rise on Thursday, with the KSE30 climbing 224.59 points to 57,478.24 and the KSE100 increasing by 654.89 points, closing at 187,688.16. The market's performance was bolstered by gains in several key stocks, reflecting a 0.39% and 0.35% day-on-day increase in the KSE30 and KSE100 indexes, respectively.

According to JS Global, significant contributors to the upward trend were stocks like Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL), which saw a 6.99% increase to 884.63, and Adamjee Insurance Company Limited (AICL), rising 3.89% to 121.05. Additionally, Mughal Iron and Steel Industries Limited (MUGHAL) gained 3.41%, closing at 100.68. The year-to-date change for both indexes in CY26 stood at 7.83%, with the fiscal year-to-date showing a notable increase of 50.65% for KSE30 and 49.40% for KSE100.

Market capitalization also saw a slight uptick, with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) market cap reaching Rs 21,185.01 billion, reflecting a 0.24% day-on-day change. In terms of volume, the total turnover was 1,069.31 million shares, with a total value of Rs 49.16 billion (US$ 175.64 million). While the indices showed gains, not all stocks fared well; Pakistan General Insurance Company Limited (PGLC) and Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) were among the day's losers, with PGLC dropping 3.06% to 15.21 and FCCL decreasing by 1.35% to 174.61.
