KSE Indices Drop as Market Sees Decline in Turnover and Traded Value

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange experienced a downturn on Monday, with both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices closing lower than the previous trading session. The KSE30 index fell by 17.30 points to 49,161.36, and the KSE100 index dropped by 118.84 points, closing at 161,984.09.

The market witnessed a decrease in activity, with the turnover and traded value both declining significantly. The total turnover for regular market trading was recorded at 490,347,758 shares, a stark contrast to the previous figure of 768,050,488 shares. Similarly, the traded value plummeted to 23,666,665,007, down from 28,644,435,680.

The KSE100 index saw a fluctuation within the day's trading, reaching a high of 162,385.33 and a low of 161,241.47. The KSE30 index also varied between a high of 49,318.89 and a low of 48,859.79.

The market capitalization of regular trading also took a dip, falling from 18,512,957,724,026 to 18,468,918,647,426.

The deferred contracts market, however, saw an increase in turnover, with 389,383,000 shares traded compared to the previous 183,142,500. The traded value in this segment surged to 33,273,652,870 from 7,749,953,270.

Overall, the market's performance reflects investor caution as economic uncertainties continue to influence trading decisions.
