KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange witnessed a downward trend on September 9, 2026, with both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices experiencing declines in their positions. The KSE30 index closed at 51,172.13 points, down from its previous close of 51,414.64, reflecting a decrease of 242.51 points or 0.47 percent. Similarly, the KSE100 index ended at 171,943.60 points, marking a drop of 698.56 points or 0.40 percent from its previous close of 172,642.16.
According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market experienced lower trading volumes compared to the previous session. The overall turnover for regular (REG) trades was recorded at 477,674,710 shares, a decline from the previous turnover of 722,624,203 shares. The traded value for REG was reported at 22,637,627,583, down from 27,942,896,699. The market capitalization also saw a decrease, standing at 19,233,413,834,011 from the previous 19,295,543,070,156.
In addition to regular trades, the deliverable futures contracts (DFC) saw a reduction in turnover and traded value. The DFC turnover was recorded at 131,978,500, a drop from the previous 176,266,500, with the traded value declining to 7,107,382,575 from 8,304,817,015. Meanwhile, over-the-counter (ODL) trades also witnessed a decrease, with the turnover falling to 1,749 from the previous 3,729, and the traded value reducing to 29,501 from 66,209.
The report indicates a cautious sentiment among investors, contributing to the reduced activity and subsequent decline in both indices.
