KSE Indices Experience Decline Amidst Mixed Sector Performance

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange's primary indices, KSE30 and KSE100, faced a downturn, closing at 49,991.48 and 168,021.80 respectively, as reported in a recent press release. The KSE100 index experienced a significant drop of 1,370.53 points, marking a 0.81% decline, while the KSE30 index fell by 476.62 points, a 0.94% decrease. Despite the overall market decline, certain companies such as IBFL, AICL, and SSOM emerged as top gainers.

According to JS Global, the day saw IBFL leading the gainers with a price increase of 23.33 points, a 9.13% rise, followed by AICL and SSOM with gains of 8.08% and 7.05% respectively. Conversely, companies like NBP, GAL, and PSX were the day's biggest losers, with NBP falling by 5.24%. The total market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange stood at Rs 18,721.16 billion, reflecting a 0.72% decrease in value.

The press release also highlighted the trading volumes, with the PSX seeing a total share turnover of 356.14 million shares. The total trading value was recorded at Rs 19.49 billion, equivalent to US$ 70.28 million. Meanwhile, the technology sector showed resilience, with IT exports climbing by 17% year-over-year to US$394 million in August 2026. Regional markets displayed varied performances, with South Korea's KOSPI rising by 1.4%, while the Philippines' PSI fell by 1.5%.
