Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) saw a notable upward trend with both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices posting gains, according to data released in a press release. The KSE100 index rose by 1,761.65 points, or 0.98%, reaching a level of 181,776.59. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index increased by 570.01 points, or 1.06%, to reach 54,391.82.
According to JS Global, significant contributors to the positive market momentum included National Power Limited (NPL), which saw a 9.75% increase in its stock price to 72.18. Gadoon Textile Mills (GADT) and Maple Leaf Cement (MLCF) also experienced gains, with their stock prices rising by 6.50% and 5.26%, respectively. In contrast, some stocks such as Mehran Sugar Mills (MEHT) and Habib Gulzar Industries (HGFA) experienced declines, falling by 2.41% and 1.88%, respectively.
The overall market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) increased by 0.86%, reaching Rs 20,263.68 billion, or approximately US$72.96 billion. The trading session saw a total volume of 793.35 million shares exchanged, with a total value of Rs 40.31 billion, or US$145.16 million. The PSX has shown a year-to-date increase in market capitalization of 2.91% for the calendar year 2026.
In regional markets, mixed performances were observed. While China’s SSEA and India’s BSESN indices registered modest gains of 0.6% and 0.5% respectively, South Korea’s KOSPI experienced a significant drop of 4.6%. Other markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia saw slight declines of 0.1% and 0.6% respectively.
