KSE Indices Show Modest Gains Amid Increased Trading Activity

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) experienced a slight upward trend on January 20, 2026, with both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices recording gains. The KSE30 rose by 209.01 points to reach 57,731.36, while the KSE100 increased by 860.09 points, closing at 188,621.78. This performance marks a change of 0.36% and 0.46%, respectively, from the previous trading session.

According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the market saw a surge in trading activity with a turnover of 1,225,807,285 in the regular market, surpassing the previous session's 1,198,656,139. The traded value also rose to 63,897,891,947, compared to 63,800,555,498 from the prior session. Market capitalization experienced a slight increase, reaching 21,304,782,962,594 from 21,194,519,990,050.

In the derivatives market, the Daily Futures Contracts (DFC) showed a traded turnover of 234,019,500, slightly down from 236,132,500, while the traded value increased to 16,606,345,650 from 14,794,308,185. The Odd Lot Deals (ODL) and Contract for Future Settlement (CSF) also saw variations, with ODL turnover increasing to 877 from 591 and CSF turnover rising significantly to 638,500 from 16,500.

The day's trading session highlighted a positive sentiment among investors, contributing to the overall gains in the market indices.
