KSE Indices Tumble as Market Experiences Significant Losses

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange saw a notable decline on Tuesday, with the KSE-30 and KSE-100 indices both experiencing sharp drops. The KSE-30 index fell by 1,124.44 points, a 2.30 percent decrease, closing at 47,843.07. Similarly, the KSE-100 index dropped by 3,667.90 points, or 2.27 percent, settling at 157,870.50.

The market's downturn was marked by fluctuations throughout the day, with the KSE-100 index reaching a high of 161,516.75 and a low of 157,765.92. The KSE-30 also recorded a high of 48,990.62 before hitting a low of 47,775.50.

Despite the losses in the indices, the market saw an increase in turnover, with 836,425,654 shares traded in the regular market, compared to 783,287,770 shares previously. The traded value rose to 38,076,967,106 from 36,372,805,175.

The futures market also noted an uptick in activity, with 179,940,500 shares traded compared to the prior session's 167,060,000. The traded value for futures climbed to 10,241,111,265 from 10,182,176,985.

Market capitalization saw a decrease, with the current value standing at 18,079,958,077,501, down from 18,471,148,131,450.

The overall market sentiment was cautious as investors reacted to the day's developments, leading to a notable decline in the indices.
