KSE100 Index Climbs Amid Strong Market Activity

Karachi: Pakistan's stock market witnessed a positive trading session as the KSE100 Index rose by 881.02 points, marking a 0.76% increase, reaching a level of 116,901.13. The KSE30 Index also experienced an uptick, closing at 35,932.66 with a gain of 326.18 points, or 0.92%.

The market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) increased by 0.70%, reaching Rs 14,292.86 billion, equivalent to $50.93 billion in U.S. currency. The trading session saw a total volume of 408.07 million shares, with a total value of Rs 32.13 billion or $114.49 million.

Among the top gainers on the KSE100 Index, Pak-Gulf Leasing Company (PGLC) led with a 10.00% increase, closing at Rs 21.89. Pak Oman Microfinance Bank (POML) followed with an 8.51% rise, ending at Rs 165.87. Maple Leaf Cement Factory (MLCF) saw a 6.27% increase, closing at Rs 64.57.

In contrast, Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) was among the day's losers, falling by 3.15% to Rs 27.95. Bank of Khyber (BNWM) and Kot Addu Power Company (KOSM) also saw declines, dropping by 1.97% and 1.70%, respectively.

The market's year-to-date performance showed an increase of 1.54% for the KSE100 Index in the fiscal year 2025, while the calendar year-to-date performance remained at a negative 0.69%. The 52-week high and low for the KSE100 Index were recorded at 118,938.11 and 70,290.12, respectively.

Regional markets exhibited mixed performances, with India's BSESN Index rising by 2.0% and Korea's KOSPI Index increasing by 0.9%. Conversely, Taiwan's TWII Index fell by 0.7%.

The trading session's positive momentum indicates a robust investor sentiment, supported by significant trading volumes and value. The PSX continues to attract interest as it navigates through the fiscal year.
