KSE100 Index Closes Higher Amid Volatility

Karachi: The KSE100 index demonstrated resilience during a volatile trading session, ultimately closing 399 points higher at 175,329. The index opened positively, reaching an intraday high of 489 points before dipping to a low of 414 points. Trading volumes saw a notable increase, rising approximately 35% compared to the previous session.

According to AKD Securities Limited, the index continues to sustain above the 100-SMA (174,178) on the daily chart, showing a mixed pattern over the past 50 sessions with 18 bullish and 32 bearish candles, resulting in a net total of 14 bearish candles. The index's position, 18.0% above the lower Bollinger Band, coupled with the bands being 50.23% narrower than usual, suggests current volatility is below typical levels. This contraction may signal a potential sharp price movement in the near future.
