Karachi: The KSE100 index faced significant volatility in its latest trading session, starting positively but ending the day on a downturn. After reaching an intraday high of 825 points, the index reversed its gains to hit an intraday low of 601 points, ultimately closing 509 points lower at 176,467. Trading volumes saw a notable decline, decreasing by approximately 21% from the previous session.
According to AKD Securities Limited, the index has experienced 2 positive closes and 8 negative closes over the past 10 sessions, indicating a net of 6 bearish closes and ongoing selling pressure. The index closed 20.2% above the lower Bollinger Band, with the bands currently 58.88% narrower than usual, suggesting compressed volatility relative to the index's typical trading range. This narrow band indicates a period of consolidation, but the extended compression of volatility raises the likelihood of a sharp directional price move in the near future.

Resistance levels are identified at 177,400, followed by 178,100 and 178,800. Investors are advised to adopt a cautious trading approach, accumulating positions on dips while defining risk below the support zone.
