Karachi: The KSE100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange reached a new 52-week high, closing at 94,995.67, reflecting a daily increase of 232.03 points or 0.24%. This milestone was achieved amid notable performances from key stocks such as EFUG, PSX, and PSEL, which led the market gains.
According to JS Global, the KSE30 Index also saw an uptick, closing at 29,481.17, marking a daily increase of 71.05 points or 0.24%. Year-to-date, the KSE100 Index has increased by 52.11% in CY24 and 21.10% in FY25. The market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange rose to Rs 12,233.28 billion, equivalent to US$ 44.10 billion, representing a day-on-day change of 0.22%.
EFUG emerged as the top gainer, with its price increasing by 9.09% to 122.77. PSX and PSEL followed, with their prices rising by 9.07% and 7.98%, respectively. However, some stocks such as PKGP and UNITY saw declines, with PKGP dropping by 3.98% and UNITY by 3.23%.
The market saw a total trading volume of 765.21 million shares, with a total value of Rs 23.92 billion or US$ 86.25 million. The leading volume drivers included HASCOL and FFL, trading 85.14 and 60.50 million shares, respectively. Regional markets showed varied performances, with Korea's KOSPI gaining 2.2% while Taiwan's TWII fell by 0.9%.
The stock market's robust performance reflects investor confidence and positive momentum, despite some stocks experiencing losses in value.
