Karachi: The KSE100 index, a benchmark for the Pakistani stock market, witnessed a slight increase, closing at 175,927.73 points, recording a day-over-day change of 0.07%. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index climbed by 0.23% to reach 52,615.81 points. This uptick comes as regional markets exhibited varied performances.
According to JS Global, the day saw mixed results with CNERGY leading gainers, rising 8.15% to close at 10.61. Other significant gainers included PIOC and ATRL, with increases of 5.93% and 4.10%, respectively. However, some stocks such as GHGL and KTML experienced declines, falling by 2.81% and 2.80%, respectively.
Market capitalization for the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stood at Rs 19,762.67 billion, reflecting a minor decrease of 0.14% from the previous day. In terms of trading volume, 675.92 million shares were exchanged, amounting to a total value of Rs 30.27 billion (US$ 108.89 million).
Comparatively, regional markets presented a diverse picture. The Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SSEA) in China grew by 0.9%, while India’s BSESN index saw a decline of 0.6%. In Korea, the KOSPI index fell sharply by 4.5%, contrasting with a modest gain in the Philippines index (PSI) of 0.2%.
Despite the mixed regional backdrop, the KSE100 index's slight uptick indicates a cautious optimism among investors, reflecting on both international influences and domestic market dynamics.
