KSE100 Index Sees Moderate Gains Amidst Market Fluctuations

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange's KSE100 index experienced a modest increase on [Date of Release], closing at 113,739.16 points, marking a 0.35% rise. The KSE30 index also followed a similar trend with a 0.10% uptick, closing at 35,327.55 points. These movements reflect a day of mixed trading in the market, driven by gains in select sectors amid broader market volatility.

According to a statement by JS Global, the top gainers of the session included Shell Pakistan Limited (SHEL), which saw a 10% increase in its stock price, closing at 203.48. Pioneer Cement Limited (PIOC) also rose by 10%, reaching 209.18, while Cherat Cement Company Limited (CHCC) posted a 9.96% increase, ending at 291.58. Other notable gainers included Kot Addu Power Company Limited (KTML) and Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (MEHT), both showing significant gains.

Conversely, several stocks experienced declines. Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited (ABOT) led the list of losers with a 10% drop, closing at 1,121.61. K-Electric Limited (KEL) and Bank of Punjab (BNWM) also saw declines of 3.48% and 3.18%, respectively.

The overall market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange rose slightly by 0.34%, bringing it to approximately Rs 14,028.25 billion. In U.S. dollar terms, the market capitalization was reported at $50.20 billion.

Trading volume for the day reached 787.44 million shares, with a total traded value of Rs 33.10 billion, or approximately $118.43 million. This level of trading activity is consistent with the 52-week average daily turnover observed in the market.

Regionally, the performance of the KSE100 index contrasted with several Asian markets. While China's SSEA remained flat, indices in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines experienced declines ranging from 0.1% to 0.9%.

The stock exchange's year-to-date performance shows a mixed picture, with the KSE100 index down by 1.21% in the calendar year 2025, but up by 44.99% in the fiscal year 2025. This indicates fluctuations driven by various economic and market factors affecting investor sentiment and trading strategies.
