KSE100 Index Sees Modest Gains Amid Market Volatility

Karachi: The KSE100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a modest increase on the latest trading day, closing at 173,155.80 points, marking a 0.56% rise. This upward movement was primarily driven by gains in specific stocks, despite market volatility and a year-to-date decline.

According to JS Global, the KSE100 index's gainers included YOUW, which saw a significant price increase of 21.14%, followed by GADT and CNERGY with rises of 6.69% and 5.61%, respectively. Meanwhile, the market capitalization of PSX increased to Rs 19,161.40 billion, a 0.53% day-on-day change. However, the year-to-date figures showed a decrease of 2.68% in CY26, reflecting broader market challenges.

The trading session also saw a total volume of 1,165.25 million shares, with a total value of Rs 54.94 billion. Among the volume leaders were CNERGY, BOP, and PRL, which traded 83.68 million, 82.48 million, and 67.57 million shares, respectively. Despite the positive movement in the KSE100, certain stocks such as CHCC, KTML, and LOTCHEM faced declines, indicating a mixed market performance.

Regionally, markets showed varied movements with Korea's KOSPI leading with a 2.7% increase, while Indonesia's JKSE saw a decline of 0.5%. These regional trends highlight the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by investors across different markets.
