Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s KSE100 index experienced a slight increase on Monday, closing at 170,765.22 points, marking a rise of 266.27 points or 0.16% from the previous day. This modest gain comes as the market capitalization of the PSX registered a 0.13% increase, reaching Rs 18,996.44 billion.
According to JS Global, the increase in the KSE100 index was supported by gains from key companies such as Pakistan Gas Limited Company (PGLC), which saw its shares rise by 2.97% to Rs 17.00. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGP) and National Power Parks Management Company Limited (NPL) also contributed positively with gains of 2.80% and 2.19% respectively. The market saw a total trading volume of 482.76 million shares, with a total value of Rs 19.28 billion.
Despite the gains, the year-to-date performance for the KSE100 index remains in the negative, with a decline of 1.89% for the current calendar year and a more significant drop of 5.29% for the fiscal year 2027. The market’s performance has fluctuated over the past 52 weeks, with the index reaching a high of 189,166.83 points and a low of 146,480.16 points.
Among the losers on the KSE100 index, TGL experienced a 2.42% decrease in its share price, while Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY) and Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited (RMPL) fell by 2.15% and 1.75%, respectively. The overall market sentiment remains cautious as investors continue to navigate the mixed performance of regional markets, with varying trends observed across indices in China, India, and Indonesia.
The PSX’s market capitalization, now at US$ 68.54 billion, reflects the ongoing challenges and opportunities present in Pakistan’s stock market as it responds to both domestic and international economic indicators.
