KSE100 Index Slides as Market Capitalization Declines

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange witnessed a downturn as the KSE100 index fell by 1.12%, closing at 111,986.89 points. The decline was accompanied by a drop in the KSE30 index, which ended the day at 34,675.98 points, marking a 1.47% decrease.

According to a statement by JS Global, market capitalization on the Pakistan Stock Exchange saw a 1% day-on-day decrease, bringing the total to Rs 13,840.54 billion, equivalent to approximately $49.49 billion. The year-to-date change for the calendar year 2025 stands at -4.52%.

Among the gainers, Packages Limited (PKGS) saw a 3.76% rise, closing at Rs 567.59. AGP Limited (AGP) and National Foods Limited (NATF) also made gains, increasing by 2.32% and 1.76% respectively.

Conversely, Engro Fertilizers (ENGROH) recorded a significant loss with a 6.98% decline, closing at Rs 180.26. Airlink Communication (AIRLINK) and The Searle Company Limited (SEARL) also faced setbacks, falling by 6.85% and 3.77% respectively.

The total volume of shares traded was 208.88 million, with a total value of Rs 11.88 billion or $42.48 million. Notable volume leaders included National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Worldcall Telecom Limited (WTL), with 23.80 million and 17.59 million shares traded, respectively.

Regionally, most Asian markets showed mixed results. China’s SSE Composite Index edged down by 0.1%, while India’s BSESN decreased by 0.2%. Conversely, Indonesia’s JKSE rose by 4.0%, reflecting a positive trend.
