Karachi: In a significant development for regional industry, the Larkana Industrial Zone has been designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), as confirmed by Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo. The declaration was made during a recent signing ceremony involving the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE), the Government of Sindh, and the Government of Pakistan.

According to Zameen.Com, Minister Dharejo emphasized the SEZ status as a transformative milestone for Larkana, projecting it will unlock substantial growth and innovation opportunities for local agro-based industries. The Sindh Industrial and Trade Association (SITA) has recognized the zone following the completion of essential infrastructure and development initiatives.

The zone’s management and oversight have been officially transferred to the Sindh Economic Zones Authority (SEZA). Launched in 2017 and completed in 2021 with an investment of over Rs. 1.366 billion, the Larkana Industrial Zone spans 500 acres and features 94 one-acre industrial plots, along with additional commercial spaces. This strategic move is expected to significantly enhance Larkana’s industrial landscape, foster sustainable economic development, and attract further investments to the region.
