Lahore: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have agreed to enhance cooperation to tackle corruption, which they identify as a significant barrier to investment and economic growth. This commitment emerged from a meeting between NAB Director Muhammad Akmal and LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar, where they emphasized the importance of transparent governance and accountability in creating a conducive business environment.

According to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting underscored the necessity of a coordinated approach to address corruption-related complaints affecting the business community and improve transparency within government departments. Ali Hussam Asghar, the LCCI President, stressed the pivotal role of the business community in economic development and the need for a transparent regulatory environment. He advocated for a corruption-free governance system to enhance investor confidence and support sustainable economic growth. Asghar also emphasized the importance of a robust mechanism for businesses to report corruption-related concerns directly to NAB authorities and proposed the establishment of NAB liaison arrangements in relevant government departments to facilitate this process.
