LAHORE: An incident at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has unsettled the local business and industrial community. Abuzar Shad, a former president of the LCCI, verbally abused and threatened the current president, Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, without any provocation.
Witnesses reported that Shad entered Saigol's office unlawfully and engaged in a tirade of inappropriate language and abusive slurs. His actions included issuing direct death threats, which have alarmed the trader community across Lahore.
The confrontation took place in the presence of Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, former President Muhammad Ali Mian, and Executive Committee members Ehtisham-ul-Haq and Rana Muhammad Nisar.
Eyewitnesses described Shad's behavior as a premeditated attack on the institution's dignity and discipline, far exceeding a mere personal disagreement.
In response, President Saigol convened an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee to devise a strategy to prevent future incidents and officially condemn such conduct. Major trade bodies in Lahore have strongly denounced the episode and called for strict action from the authorities.
